Skills for Work Apprenticeships

Who are we?

Training is individually designed to meet your needs and is delivered by qualified, friendly and experienced staff that will support our learners throughout the apprenticeship through to End Point Assessment (EPA).

The apprenticeship team consists of Business Development Officers, Tutors and Internal Quality Assurers to help and support apprentices and employers through their apprenticeship journey.  Our Tutors have training and assessing experience specialising in Business Admin, Customer Service, Coaching and Mentoring, Team Leading, Project and Operational Management as well as Public Service Operational Delivery which is specifically designed for organisations working within the public sector (Local Government, NHS, Police, Fire Service etc.)

How we can support you?

Apprenticeships can be delivered to existing members of staff and new recruits. Apprenticeships are work-based training schemes that are designed to help you foster emerging talent in your business. They combine work with study and result in a programme which is truly work focused.

Apprenticeships can take between 15 months and 30 months to complete, depending on the level of Apprenticeship.  Apprentices hold real jobs in your business, and spend the vast majority of their time carrying out their mainstream duties.   Apprenticeships include practical skills, knowledge and behaviours in specific occupational areas and all learners must work towards Level 1 or 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English and sit exams as part of the apprenticeship programme.  Funding rules state that 20% of time should be spent off the job training.

Skills for Work deliver workshops at St Peters House to support learners to achieve their apprenticeship.  You will be made aware of any release dates at the beginning of your learner’s apprenticeship and this will be included in the individual learning plan. The assessor will also visit the learner within the workplace to help and support them with their apprenticeship.

By creating new solutions to deliver apprenticeships online, Skills for Work are helping to increase accessibility, flexibility and convenience for both the employee and the employer.  We have recently moved to a more online presence, delivering sign ups, inductions and workshops via online delivery platforms when required.

Skills for Work deliver the following Apprenticeships Standards to existing members of staff and new recruits:

  • Business Admin Levels 3
  • Customer Service Levels 2 and 3
  • Public Service Operational Delivery Officer Level 3
  • Team Leader/Supervisor Level 3
  • Operational Management Level 5
  • Associate Project Manager Level 4
  • Learner Mentor Level 3
  • Coaching Professional Level 5

Additional Information and Incentives:

The Chancellor’s Plan for Jobs announcement in July included a range of incentives that are available to employers recruiting apprentices, including those that have previously been made redundant. Incentives include: A new payment of £2,000 to employers in England for each new apprentice employers hire, aged under 25, and a £1,500 payment for each new apprentice they hire aged 25 and over, from 1st August 2020 to 31st January 2021, for new recruits.

These payments are in addition to the existing £1,000 payment for new 16-18 year-old apprentices, and those aged under 25 with an Education, Health and Care Plan.  If you currently are thinking of recruiting an apprentice please contact us and we can help and support you through the process.

If you are seeking an alternative apprenticeship that we don’t currently offer please speak to us about what we can offer on a commercial basis.
