Who are Skills for Work?

Skills for Work are an established training provider and are part of Bradford Council.  The Skills for Work service comprises of the Apprenticeship Team, Family Learning & Adult Skills Service (FLASS). 

At Skills for Work we are proud of the quality service we provide to our customers and employers.  Information, Advice and Guidance is available from our matrix accredited staff which offers an individualised information service for businesses and individuals.

We provide high quality bespoke access to information which is up-to-date, easy to understand and which addresses the wide range of questions and concerns you may have about engaging in skills development, training, learning and employment.

We are regularly monitored by external agencies such as Ofsted and matrix to ensure the service we offer to our customers is of the highest possible standards.

Our matrix accreditation - The matrix Standard is a national quality framework for career, information, advice and guidance services (IAG), relating to learning and work.  Skills for Work achieved the standard in 2005 and succeeded in maintaining accreditation in 2008, 2011, 2014, 2017 and most recently in 2020.

Ofsted - Skills for Work had a short inspection by Ofsted in December 2017 and was rated as Good. The inspection was the first short inspection carried out since the provider was judged to be good in March 2014.


What We Do

Skills for Work delivers employment and skills training support for adults as well as young people facing multiple barriers to employment. Our key aim is to connect local people to local sustainable jobs.

Skills for Work also provides a range of recruitment and customised training services to meet the workplace skills needs of employers and aims to support employers and individuals improve skill levels in the workplace and across the district.

As an employer or individual you receive excellent customer service and support from our highly industry experienced and qualified staff.  We support a range of businesses with Apprenticeships and training to upskill new and established staff. All support is individually tailored to meet to your specific business needs. We also work with a range of partners across the district who can offer a range of additional support.  We aim to deliver a high quality where we focus on the needs and well-being of the individuals we are seeking to support.

Our Family Learning team supports individuals across the district with accredited Adult Skills courses and families learning courses. We deliver free training, teaching and learning across the district in your local area including schools, community centres and libraries.
